As the temple is not accessible here by road, there is an uphill trek of 22 kms from Gaurikund to reach the temple. Manchan, Pony and Mule is also available to reach the temple.

 

Badrinath is another significant destination for Chardham Yatra. It is located in the Chamoli district in Uttarakhand.  The temple is situated at an elevation of 3,843 metres (12,509 ft) above sea level, making it one of the most sacred places of Hinduism. It is also a a part of popular Chota Char Dham pilgrimage circuit. Badrayana (Badri)  is another name of Rishi Ved Vyas who is believed to reside in the region.

 

It was re-established in 8th century by renowned Guru Adi Shankara who used to walk miles to visit the Badrinath temple.

Yamunotri Dham Route Map

 

Important Place to Visit: Hanuman Chatti, Spatarishi Kund, Kharsali, Surya Kund, Yamunotri Temple

Yamunotri is located at an altitude of 3293 meters. Known as the origin point of the holy river Yamuna, it is the starting point of char Dham yatra. It is considered the westmost shrine of the Gharwal region, with a dedicated temple to Goddess Yamuna and thermal springs at Janki Chatti.
